GCB is the Best Retail Bank – the banker
GCB Bank Limited has been adjudged the Best Retail Bank in Ghana for 2016 at the fourth annual West Africa Awards.
The Bank received a certificate and crystal trophy in recognition of its contributions to the retail banking business in Ghana.
On 19 September, voting opened on www.bankerafrica.com for the fourth annual West Africa Awards, attracting more than 11,800 votes from across the region and the banking industry.
Commenting on the win, the Managing Director of GCB, Ernest Mawuli Agbesi, said it is not surprising that GCB emerged the winner.
He said the management of the Bank is implementing strategies to reposition GCB as the most people- centered Bank.
“We are committed to serving members of the public and we have invested in infrastructure, technology and personnel as part of our transformation programme,” he said.
Robin Amlot, CEO of CPI Financial, the publisher of Banker Africa, said GCB’s Bank’s success in managing their balance sheet through difficult times reflected in subscribers’ votes.
“In four short years our Awards programmes have become established as a valued and respected benchmark.
“We are particularly pleased to see growth in the voting numbers, showing engagement and interest from the industry and offering a true reflection of the views of bankers and financiers in the region,” he added.
The annual Banker Africa Awards are continent-wide programmes open to all banks and financial institutions in Africa. The aim of the Awards programme, split into four individual regions (North Africa, East Africa, West Africa and Southern Africa), is to recognize outstanding performance and excellence in the financial services industry.
The Banker Africa West Africa Awards, steadily growing since the inaugural 2013 recognitions, reflect the core philosophy of the magazine’s publisher, CPI Financial, aiming to identify and promote excellence and best practice in financial services.
